Mask: Formed the base using plaster shaped over my face. Coated with gesso followed by a layer of fibreglass resin. Second coat of gesso, then used paperclay to shape the mask and teeth. A layer of crystal sheen, gesso, then paint. Finally, stuck on a layer of cloth to match the bandage top.

Top: Arguably the hardest part in this costume, taking a few weeks to complete. Used a stretchy, non-fraying cloth. Dyed grey from white. The cloth was cut into strips, then sewn together. The arm was entirely hand sewn, since it was especially difficult to machine-sew in spirals. The top is held together with around 30 pieces of velcro and tack buttons.

Bottom: Made using the same stretchy cloth as the top, except this was black. I originally planned for it to be a split legged hakama, but it didn't quite work out as planned, so in the end, I converted it into a skirt. One pocket at each side to keep my valuables during events. The 'tattered' edges at the top are held up with a sewn-on elastic piece of interfacing. Sewn a few belt loops onto the interior to accommodate a belt: essential for walking around without having the skirt falling down. Also created a small, long pocket at the back to sheath the mugetsu weapon when not in use.

Arm flames: Made from PVC sheets, cut then molded using a heat gun. 'Assimilated' from the many cosplayers using this method to create the blue Black Rock Shooter eye flames.

Glove: Same stretchy cloth used as the bottom. Not much to it, just sew, cut, and you're done.

Feet: Made using the same dyed cloth as the top. Entirely hand sewn due to its shape. Zippers were sewn to the back to wear and remove.

Arm 'tattoos': Drawn on using permanent marker. Not particularly permanent though: it tends to fade when you start sweating.

Weapon: Transparent acrylic rod partially coloured with black permanent marker. Thanks to the concave/convex effect of the rod, the partially coloured bits of the other side of the rod can be seen as well. The resulting weapon is as close as you can get to the manga version.
