From Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Noctis Lucis Caelum's main weapon of choice, the mechanical falchion, otherwise nicknamed Drive Edge.
The sword was made using, in order of use: pine wood, pla-plate, paperclay, and cookie cutters. Pine wood formed the bulk of the sword. Pla-plate was used to create details such as the rivets and exhaust grills. Paperclay was used to fill and smoothen any surfaces on the wood, and also to create the runes on the blade. Cookie cutters were used to make the circular exhausts on the sword. If you'd like to know more about the creation process, do take a look at my WIP deviation listed below.
Painting was mostly done by my friend, since I lack the tools and expertise for it, aka, I suck at painting! :<
Completed within the time frame of almost a year, working on and off. It took way too long to make, twice as long as I expected in fact. Nevertheless, it turned out better than I expected as well, and I'm glad its now complete. One important thing I learnt while making this sword was never to underestimate details. They're the most time-consuming part of any project. Its best to do each individual detail separately before putting it all together, otherwise you might find yourself working in really tight corners.
I love the accuracy, and the attention to detail that you put into this. The black that you used for most of the sword brings out a very serious tone to the weapon.
I silvered mine since initial production -- and you are right. The devil is definitely in the details. Worst weapon to make, ever.

Okay, thanks
