Bridging The Gap

This piece presents a possible solution to the generation gap, in that one party has to take the initiative to address the problem. In this case, it is the adult.

He is seen crossing the crumbling bridge. Representative of the deteriorating relationship between the two, he tries to cross in order to make amends. The journey is perilous. Should he fall, there would be drastic consequences. However, if he were to wait until it was too late, when the bridge would have crumbled to nothing, he would no longer be able to cross the gaping chasm which had built between them over the years.

The suitcase is particularly notable in this piece. In order to bridge the gap, the adult first has to address the source of the problem. As with the previous piece 'What I Have To Be', within the suitcase lies the expectations of society that he is to perform up to. Be relieving himself of the suitcase, he relinquishes the burden of society. After all, if he were to choose, family would definitely come first. Relieved of the deadweight, he is then able to safely bridge and mend the gap.
